Project Brief
This project was initially intended to house 6,500 athletes for the 2022 Commonwealth Games with the view to convert into 1,400 houses following the games. After reviewing the impact of the global pandemic, the project focused solely on the residential scheme and was no longer be used as a site for the athletes.
At Gecon, we worked alongside VINCI and Lendlease to ensure development could effectively and safely continue. We completed the project during the COVID-19 pandemic, adhering to Government guidance and maintaining social distancing.
Works Performed
- Complete groundworks package from foundations & bases to finished floor slabs.
- Crane bases and pits with temporary works shoring structures and large steel cages.
- Drainage including interceptor tanks.
- Electric service ducts and pits.
- Finishing works including Kerbs, edgings, and slabs.
- Mass waste disposal off site.
